Ethnographic Archives


A discussion between Patrícia Pereira and Rita Cachado about ethnographic archives.

What are the actual and possible uses of different types of archives produced by ethnographers during fieldwork? This Learning Resource puts forward the concept of ethnographic archives and considers the ethical implications in this area.

Rita Cachado is a Researcher in Urban Anthropology at ISCTE, Lisbon, she began working about migration and social housing, mobilities and South Asian transnationality, and currently she researches, writes and teaches about Urban Ethnography in Portugal and the safeguarding of ethnographic archives.
